Sexual Abuse Issues And Marital Problems - 1243 Words
Assessment Mrs. Santiago is a 27 year of female who reports substance abuse issues and marital problems. Based on the information gathered and learned during the first interview, it appears that Mrs. Santiago views herself as a wife, mother, and drunk. Question: Who is Mrs. Santiago when she is not ââ¬Å"a drunkâ⬠? How does she view herself as a person? What are her personal characteristics? Mrs. Santiago appears to have a well-established sense of personal identity in relation to her family role, but is insecure about her role outside of her family system. She is the youngest of 2 and the only girl, and assumes the role as ââ¬Å"baby sisterâ⬠with her sibling. Mrs. Santiago has no local family, 2 friends, and limited resources in the town she lives. She reports that her husband is the eldest of four and known for being the ââ¬Å"family providerâ⬠after his father passed. Mrs. Santiago migrated to the United States 4 years ago to have a better opportunity of becomin g self-sufficient. She left behind a husband of 1 year. Mrs. Santiago obtained a job in a local gas station and saved money to have her husband join her (migrating a year later) so that he could have the same opportunity as she. Mrs. Santiago quickly learned the English language and this became the language she used. When her husband joined her, he did not speak English and simply could not learn the language.
